The objective of this section is to establish a uniform system for generating, reviewing, accepting, and retaining Code-required nondestructive examination (NDE) records—including radiographic examination records and ultrasonic examination reports—in full compliance with ASME Section VIII-1 (UW-51 and Appendix 10) and ASME Section I (PW-51.4 and PW-52.2).

This system ensures that radiograph review forms (Section V, Article 2, T-292) and ultrasonic examination reports (Section V, Article 4, T-493) are properly identified, controlled, and retained for the periods required by the applicable ASME Code sections, supporting the integrity of the Manufacturer’s Quality Program and providing objective evidence of Code compliance.
